God Who Sees
There is such comfort in knowing that God sees us. Many times I have been in situations in which I have been so glad to know that although I did not perceive a way out or through, God met me. He has never failed.
I think, after a discussion about God who sees and then, us seeing a vision that God has given, it might be appropriate to ask ourselves if we see God! He is El Roi—God who sees.
Do We See God?
Isaiah, Old Testament Prophet, saw God.
At a time when God had planted a vineyard and expected luscious fruit, instead a wild crop of grapes came up. In place of pleasant plants that He could enjoy, these grapes grew every which way but up. God took the hedge away and sought a prophet to proclaim to the grapes the coming woes He planned to bring upon them.
But where was there a righteous man to declare God’s intentions?
Then God saw Isaiah and opened the heavens for this wild grape man to catch a glimpse of His throne. What did Isaiah see? The Lord sitting on a throne, high and lifted up and the train of His robe filled the temple. That must be some huge robe! Revelation opens the curtain a little further—rainbow colors surround the throne and smoke, lightnings and thunders reverberate. Winged attendants fly around declaring, “Holy, holy, holy!”
Immediately, Isaiah cried, “Woe is me, for I am undone! Because I am a man of unclean lips and I dwell in the midst of a people of unclean lips. For my eyes have seen the King: The Lord of Hosts.”
What would it be like to see God?
One of the attendants, a live coal in his hand, flew to Isaiah and touched his lips. “Behold, this has touched your lips; your iniquity is taken away and your sin purged.” Ouch, that must have hurt, yet through the pain, cleansing happened.
When the Boom of God’s Voice asked, “Whom shall I send and who will go for Us?” Isaiah answered, “Here am I, send me.”
What would it be like to see God?
I wonder if I would be so ready to repent? Would I be so ready to go through the pain of cleansing? And—taking a deep breath—would I be willing to accept the commission to go to my own generation of wild grapes with God’s messages?
Would you?
“Holy, holy, holy is the Lord of hosts; the whole earth is full of His glory!” Isaiah 6:3.

Gosh, I hope I’m ready. I find myself wanting a quick smear of lip balm as I read about that live coal. The spirit is willing . . . may the flesh come alongside and stay in agreement!
Yeah, I know what you mean!
