I got a new car. I think I’ve told about everybody I know. It’s just what I wanted. God knew that.
Now and then, I have rented cars to drive on visits to my kids. I tried out a lot of new car types. I’ve always wanted a little red Camaro, but as the years rolled by, I finally came to the conclusion that it just wasn’t going to happen. But, what I have now works just fine.
I’ve been saving for a new car for a long time. I figured this would be the year. I had asked God some time ago to help me with this. He knew about the little red Camaro, and He knew about all my practicalities—like what to do when it would need servicing—too. I wondered what I would do when it was time to go car shopping. Who would go with me and help me in that bewildering world of mechanics, electronics, price tags and financing?
Then, one day, I found a note on the counter at work that described the very car that I was considering. Not only that, my co-worker was selling it at a price I could manage. Not only that, it’s the right color! Not only that, but it’s a newer car (one of my considerations—ouch—age—ouch!). Not only that, but it has some features that will really be wonderful for somebody like me.
I went back to my desk and sat for a minute. Was this God’s leading? Then I asked Him, “Is this it? So easy? I don’t have to do anything?”
Before the end of the day, I told my co-worker, “I want your car.”
“What?” He said. He and his wife had only decided to sell it the day before.
We did all the things that needed to be done to change to a new owner. It was all done in three days. At next to NO effort on either of our parts! And if I don’t understand something about the car, I know who to ask. He even left me with a full tank of gas.
I don’t know what might be considered an act of God. But, it seems to me this car change has His Name all over it, for my co-worker and myself. Does God care about our everyday needs? Oh yeah. Will He act for us when we ask Him? Oh yeah. We may wait a bit—I waited a couple years for this new car. When we put our faith in Him and wait on God’s timing, He, like a Father who has the welfare of His children at heart, will give us those things we need. And sometimes, they are even the things we want.
Thank you, Abba Daddy.
“Or what man is there among you who, if his son (or daughter) asks for bread, will give him a stone?…If you then, being evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your Father who is in heaven give good things to those who ask Him!” Matthew 7: 9,11.

I’m thrilled for you!
Thanks, Niki. It sure has been fun driving lately, that’s for sure!
Love reading the rest of the story, Linda Jo! I agree, what a good Abba we children of His have. He covers all the details in His way & His timing. It’s perfect for you. Four wheels and all 🙂 Congrats!
Great story! So encouraging. And I got to have lunch with the author today!
It was a good time and you have some pretty wonderful stuff up your sleeve (or is that in your heart to share?) too!
Congrats on your new car. The story really struck a cord with me. I will tell you about it sometime.
