A Pink Seed
A friend of mine recently shared that she bought herself a lovely pink blanket and planned to snuggle up in it asap. Then God spoke. I asked her what happened.
“I planned to put the blanket on my bed that night, but God suggested I donate it to a homeless woman instead.” She shrugged. “It’s pink.”
What then?
“Well, I struggled with that. It was a fluffy, warm blanket and winter is coming. But then God said in my spirit, that I should give it to a homeless woman because this lovely pink blanket might speak to her of the beauty God sees in her. Homeless women don’t often feel beautiful. What could I say to that?”
Wow.
More About Seeds
When I received this book, A Pocketful of Seeds by Debbie Johnson from The Blythe Daniel Agency to review, I was excited. As I began to read it, I thought of my friend. That pink blanket was given as a seed to show God’s love, just as Debbie alluded to on the January 2nd entry in her book. As established in the Book of Acts in the Bible, Debbie spoke of intentions and actions. We all have good intentions, but “Jesus told them (and us) to go and do.” And that is what the Book of Acts is all about.
Planting seeds are acts: things we do, large or small, for others. Seeds eventually germinate and grow from those acts of planting. As Debbie’s title says, we all have a pocketful of seeds, we just need to sow them into the lives of those we encounter every day.
Daily Seeds
Debbie covers a multitude of situations, in various parts of the world, with anecdotes throughout her book. There is a story and a “Daily Seed” for every day of the year.
Here she gives suggestions from the narrative that we can follow to spread our seed that day. These are straightforward missions and should you choose to accept them, they will enrich your own life as well as your recipients.
A Pocketful of Seeds can be found on Amazon. It would make a GREAT Christmas gift!
A Free Copy
I just happen to have a free copy of A Pocketful of Seeds. I would be delighted to give it to you. The first person to go to my website contact page to ask for it specifically by saying, “I want to plant some seeds,” will be the one to receive Debbie’s lovely book A Pocketful of Seeds.
“Now the parable is this: The seed is the Word of God” Luke 8:11.
Is this the right place to say, “I want to plant some seeds?”

Okay. I feel honored.
Linda Jo, that story gives me pause, inspires me afresh to hold everything loosely. We just never know . . . What a good thought to ponder at the beginning of a new week. Thank you, friend!
For sure, Laurie. I’m inspired in the same way!
