Word Hunt
Today I met with the Scribettes, my Writers Group. We are a bunch of storytellers. Well, I guess you can expect that. We are, after all, writers.
In the middle of telling her story, one of the gals stumbled over a word. It was one of those times that you know what you want to say, but you just can’t seem to come up with the word and get it out of your mouth. Know what I mean?
As she kept mentally hunting for just that right word, the rest of us supplied her with several words—until the right one finally showed up.
I thought, how amusing. In most conversations, the speaker would finally just say, “Oh, you know what I mean,” and the rest of us would nod. Of course, we do.
But in a writer’s group words are important to us. We hunt and hunt and hunt until we find the right one. Only THAT word will suffice!
The Word
Isn’t it the same with the Bible? It is the Word of God.
God has things to say to us. He has been speaking through His Word since the beginning of human time. He has spoken to us as nations, tribes, peoples and individuals.
He never hunts for the right word to speak to us. When we look into the Bible, His Words go straight into our hearts and minds. We know it. Even when we pretend we don’t understand, there is something in our spirits that agrees with what He has sent there.
His Word is always true. Always in season. And always on time.
Do you have time for His Word?
