Uniquely Autumn
Recently, while the sun still warmed the air, I took an afternoon to visit a couple of parks. Colors are glorious this time of year. At Corbin Park, I strolled along the shadows in the trees, listening to the fluttering foliage and watching the occasional orange or yellow leaves drift to the ground.
Then, I went to Manito to take photos of the sharp sun and shadows in Duncan Gardens and boucou photos of the roses in the Rose Garden. What a lovely afternoon and what feasts for my eyes! I am so glad I took the time to go, even though many chores awaited me at home.
Since I plan to set a story or two in them, I figured I could call it research. Yes, sometimes study can be pleasurable.
Made Uniquely
Each leaf, each flower is exclusive. God is renowned for His love of color. Jesus’s creation always amazes me. How can we not stand in awe at what He crafts? How can we be so busy that we pass up the glory to stare at our phones or race our cars right by?
Our Lord is showing us how matchless is His handiwork. Don’t hurry by!
God made you and I unique. Like leaves and snowflakes, no one is the same as another. We are told so in Scripture. It is affirmed in Bible Studies and sermons. We see it expressed everywhere.
But, mostly, we don’t believe it.
We don’t see the beautiful gifts that He has placed inside of us. Different ideas, thoughts, dreams, and concepts designed for us to develop to His glory and the good of others. We need one another.
Don’t hurry by what He’s placed in your heart and mind.
Jesus delights when we stop to admire and appreciate His handiwork. And how much more He delights in us when we express what He has uniquely placed inside.
Just as creation bursts forth in every season; we, too, display the glory of God in our ways.
“One generation shall praise Your works to another, and shall declare Your mighty acts. I will meditate on the glorious splendor of Your majesty, and on Your wondrous works” (Psalm 145:4-5 NKJV).

Linda Jo, you bring to mind the heart of the message I heard in yesterday’s streamed sermon:
14 “Here’s another way to put it: You’re here to be light, bringing out the God-colors in the world. God is not a secret to be kept. We’re going public with this, as public as a city on a hill” (Matt: 5:14). Thanks for bringing it back at the start of this new week. I so appreciate your faithful stewardship of this site and God’s Word. Bless you!
God bless you in this new week, too, Laurie. I’m so glad to know that this followed on yesterday’s sermon in your church. I love that the messages come from different directions when God is speaking to us.
