Fun Visit
My son, Jeff, visited me this past weekend. We run hard and fast when he comes and enjoy every minute. Sleep is the last thing on the agenda. I do that when he returns home. I have a friend who once said to live well, you can sleep when you are dead. I take her advice.
Jeff and I walked all over the Whitworth University campus. It was Alumni Weekend. We attended the football game in the Pine Bowl (Rah! Rah! Yes, they won!), ate pulled pork barbeque (Yum! Yum! Students there must eat well) and watched a play (it was well acted, and I was fascinated with the scene changes).
Jeff and I always visit Bowl & Pitcher on the Spokane River. We love to cross the suspension bridge and take our picture together and then walk the banks of the river.
Presence
We all enjoy the presence of our children and having them with us. And that is how Father God feels about us.
He looks forward to time with us.
Having us with him.
Enjoying our presence.
Beauty in Season
It is autumn now and the view is quite different from the charging river in the spring. Rocks are visible that are run over in spring. Colors are vivid. The beauty in it all is created by a loving God and Father for us to enjoy.
His careful consideration of His creation is everywhere we look. I am always amazed at the beautiful brilliance before the cold of winter and snow covers it all in black and white.
In every season, God our Father covers us. His care is in every circumstance, every situation. We are never out of His care, though it may sometimes feel like it. All things are deftly tailored for our growth up into His image in us.
He is our Good, Good Father. In all of our living. He brings beauty into our lives in every season. Even in seasons of suffering and grief.
He holds us close—like a Father whose lap is open and inviting.
Climb up. Lay your head on His breast and listen to His heart beat for you.
“How great is the love the Father has lavished on us, that we should be called children of God! And that is what we are!” (1 John 3:1 NIV).
