Noise
Quiet rest.
I write about it often enough. I’m on my own. You’d think I would have quiet rest all the time.
Not so.
If a cat isn’t walking around my chair making a bunch of verbal noise, then said cat jumps into my lap rubbing his or her (yes, there are two) head on my chin and displacing anything else I had in my hands.
If not a cat, then chores scream for attention. Do they make noise? Well, it seems so though it might just be in my head. Like so many other things.
Yeah, like the phone. But I must keep up with all the disturbing news of the day, right? To be forewarned is to be forearmed or whatever that saying is. Maybe I should just set the phone down.
Dizzy Activity Or Sitting Still
Long ago when Jesus was on earth, He visited His friends. Martha, an hospitable lady, was spinning her wheels trying to be a good hostess. Fixing a meal. Keeping her guests served. She finally got frazzled enough to demand that Jesus tell her sister, Mary, to get off her behind and help her.
Jesus calmed her down. He recognized her dizzy activity. Then He told her Mary chose to sit at His feet. The best place to be. He would not take it away from her and invited Martha to sit before Him as well.
So who would cook the meal?
Maybe they all would have chipped in and made the meal together. What a concept.
I thought about it. I discovered that when I spin my wheels that I may or may not accomplish my goals. How frustrating.
But when I sit at the feet of Jesus in the morning and ask Him to order my day, I am amazed of all I can get done that day. How amazing!
