Through Danger
I went to Montana to spend Thanksgiving with my daughter and her family. I certainly had much to be thankful for.
This trip started like all the other trips when I go to visit my kids and their families. I took the Explorer in for a pre-trip check. I packed. Arranged for someone to care for my kitties while I was gone. And I headed off, happily singing along with my CDs.
It rained hard all the way to Lookout Pass. That should have been my first clue. But no. I make a schedule and I stick to it. (Do you?) I got nearly to the summit when my car did a whirly-gig. I hate that trembling from the back end of the car before it goes! There is no steering after that.
Fortunately, only one medium sized truck was the only vehicle in sight when I had to spread out over the road. I did hit the side, and when I was able to drive (exaggerated slow!) to a point on the other side to check out the damage, I found only a crack in the plastic covering the brake light. So, you see, I was not racing anywhere at any time. Except for my heart.
I found out later that they closed the Pass after me. Gulp. If I’d known, I might have turned around and come home.
And Flats
The very next night, I followed my daughter to her house. Half a block from there, I got a flat. You know that bump, bump, bump that happens? Yep. When I parked the car and looked at the tire, it looked like a curtain draped over the wheel. Oh, come on. Really?
The long and flat of this is that I now have four brand new winter tires. It didn’t take any salesman to tell me I needed them. I had originally bought them all at the same time, and if one blew out, I was not taking a chance on another one blowing when I had to pass the Pass on the way home!
God Knows
I did not know this would be ahead of me. But – God knew. I spun out on the Pass, but there was no damage to me, my car or anyone else. I got a blown out tire while in Montana. It happened half a block away from where I could park the car for the night. It did NOT happen on the Pass during the spinout.
I always say, “God Knows” when I don’t know what else to say. This time, it’s more than just something to say: what a relief it is that God really DOES know everything. I don’t have to carry a burden because He knows it and He is the only one who can do anything about it. I’m here to testify that God takes care of us, even through the dangers in our lives.
Thankful? Yes.
Rescue
We sang a hymn this morning at church that spoke of God rescuing us from danger, and that His blood interposes between us and danger. Being rescued in practical temporal ways is a very in-your-face experience. It is immediate. It makes the heart race and the blood zip up and down your body. What if we could see the spiritual rescue that is constantly taking place for us?
Thankful? Oh, YES!
“He, to rescue me from danger
Interposed His precious blood.”

Whoa, Sis; the adventures that you have! And you live to tell about them! For that, I am thankful!
Glad He was watching over you!!! Love ya, Joe
Yeah, I’m pretty happy about that, too!
