Coming Soon…
This morning I had a hard time getting out of bed. I heard the rain pounding on the roof and darkness was just lifting. If not for the blaring radio, I’m not sure I would have made it. But, that combined with the cat’s yeowl, I threw back the covers and got up.
I was embarrassed to be so late for church. Well, I’m usually a bit late, but today I was LATE. Once seated, I looked around to see most of the congregation was later than me. That was a shock. Our youth leader did announcements and he pretty much repeated my own getting up experience.
It’s later now, and still raining. How that depresses the soul.
This is the day that the Lord has made. Let us rejoice in it.
Ok, the lawns are turning green. The dry ground is soaking in the water. The flowers are loving it. Soon they will be colorful and full. I see new growth on trees – that light green/dark green shade.
What a contrast to last Sunday!
The sun flooded my sight, dancing gold everywhere. Even my Little Lion – golden cat – leaped while trying to catch dust particles that flowed free in the stream of early morning light from the window.
But this was later. The sun, bright on my eyes and warming my skin perfectly, made for contentment as I stretched my legs heading up the street for my afternoon walk. I noticed lawns greening up, shoots popping out of the ground and birds singing their songs as I strolled.
I decided to try hiking up the steep hill in the neighborhood—the one that looks like scaling the side of a mountain. I paced my steps and my breathing and began climbing. YES! Made it all the way to the top without stopping to gasp for air once! Of course, I had to gulp water at the top, but even my pounding heart felt good. The first time out this Spring. What a glorious day!
The reward for stretching my body was the beautiful sun and shadowed valley below the rocks I stood on. Blues, greens, golds met my gaze and cars moving parts reminded me of summer’s ants.
This is the day that the Lord has made. Let us rejoice in it.
Regardless of the weather: A day like this makes me thankful that my life is sustained by my Gracious God. How about you?
