Life is real, isn’t it?
We feel like we are on top of the pinnacle and then—WHAP! We’re lying on our back looking up at the sky.
A few weeks ago, I wrote a blog on living with cancer and/or other tough stuff.
It was good. It was right. It was true.
Too bad I didn’t take my own advice!
The Real Part
Yep. I see those clouds floating by. Some of them look pretty dark, like they are building to a storm. Others, further off, are harmless fleecy floaters.
A trial happens and in spite of our best efforts, we find we are playing an ugly tape in our minds. You know—the kind that goes round and round?
“I should have said …”
“If he/she says one more thing …”
Or a total fantasy grievance. It doesn’t matter what it is, we’re fighting it.
Reigned In
But God doesn’t let us go too far, does He? He brings intervention. Something we read. Something we hear. Something we see. Someone who has a word of wisdom for us.
And suddenly, we see where we were headed. The not good place. Time for a U-Turn.
Immense relief!
Cool, soothing waters.
Freedom from cowering fear.
Freedom from oppression.
Covered by God’s Hand—safe.
Peace. In the midst of chaos!
Trust in I AM
Thank you, Lord, for loving us and caring for where our hearts choose to go. Thank you for Your gentle persuasion when You go after us to repent. Thank you for Your kind restoration. We are blessed by Your love.
“But I am the Lord your God, who divided the sea whose waves roared—The Lord of Hosts is His Name. And I have put My words in your mouth; I have covered you with the shadow of My hand …” Isaiah 51:15-16a.
You had me at “total fantasy grievance.” Ouch. Too often I write/direct/headline another dark-side mental script—complete with verbal zingers. Ahhh, thank heaven for sweet intervention! Hmm. What if that’s what selah really means? 🙂
I’ll bet that is JUST what selah means!
I love this prayer: “Thank you, Lord, for loving us and caring for where our hearts choose to go.”
Yep, living in the real, daily here …
(love the title too 🙂 )
It’s good to walk together, eh? Sure thankful for His grace!
