Twisted Turns
Life has presented so many twists and turns in the last year that it has been hard to concentrate to finish any one thing.
Anyone relate?
The pressure that weighs down our spirits when we can’t finish the project, or the timeline, or the relationship is debilitating.
I am so glad it’s not all on me to make sure everything comes together like it is supposed to go.
Taking a deep breath, here.
Promise of Completion
We can’t do it all, nor are we supposed to. Perhaps we aren’t the superhumans that we think we are.
Our attention would be better spent not on the what of life, but on the Who of life.
What we build will crash after us. What God builds in us lives on in those behind us. He alone can complete the work He starts in us. Our striving gets us nowhere except maybe a heart attack.
So trusting God to complete those tasks that our minds are too stressed to wrap around is the only way to go. One day at a time.
There is a song that reminds us that God is always working, even when we can’t see what He is doing. He will never let us down.
See To Eternity
I recently visited a mansion in Montana built by Marcus Daly, one of Montana’s Copper Kings. He lived in the latter 1800s and was worth millions when he passed out of this world. The mansion is a magnificent edifice. Stone curly cues everywhere. So richly beautiful inside and lovely grounds surrounding it. It was built as a monument to a man’s accomplishments. His influence seems to be all over the state. I wonder where the man is now.
I fancied I could see to eternity along the stone railing outside the house. The blue petunias lined the way.
I thought it is good to pick the tasks that God assigns to have eternal value.
What will last. Things that will live after we are gone and influence generations after us.
This is about believing that God will complete what He has begun. He is faithful. He keeps His promises. We can trust that He will do the things in us that bring about His Will.
For eternity.
“Being confident of this very thing, that He who has begun a good work in you will complete it until the day of Jesus Christ” (Philippians 1:6 NKJV).
