David, Mom Jeanna and Dad Jeff
The Big C
How relieved can you get after getting a good report from a year-long battle with cancer? That report was given to my grandson, 15-year old David. He now joins the club of cancer survivors. It’s a dubious club, but boy, those of us in it are sure glad to be here! I never thought one of my grandchildren would be in it.
David’s journey began last fall with the news he had cancer. Surgeries followed. Radiation followed that, and finally into a routine of semi-killer chemo treatments.
David, his parents, Jeff (my son) and Jeanna, and his three younger brothers are my heroes. God saw them through long, difficult days and nights. Through illness and the in-betweens. And now through to live on the other side of the BIG C.
David is tough. His toughness stood him in good stead. With every drop in healthy blood cell counts, he determined to push through. In between chemo treatments, he played basketball on his high school team, he went to a couple of camps (where Mom and Dad had to be close by in case of emergency) and he even came 300 miles (with Dad and brother Steven) to visit with this Grandma this past summer. No emergencies.
Overcoming Big C
And now, after the final tests, David is declared cancer-free! Yes! Yes! Yes! Now David can go back to being a teenager again, doing things teens do without specter cancer hanging over his head.
Amazing! God is faithful!
We, David’s immediate and extended family, are humbled and grateful for all the prayer that has gone up for David for a year. Thank you for watching on this wall with us. We are celebrating!
“These things I have spoken to you, that in Me you may have peace. In the world you will have tribulation, but be of good cheer, I have overcome the world” John 16:33.
“I write to you, fathers (and mothers), because you have known Him who is from the beginning. I write to you, young men, because you have overcome the wicked one” I John 2:13.
Oh Linda Jo, this is glorious news and I’m thrilled for you all!
Love the way the new site is unfolding. Kudos!
Yes, it is such a relief to hear about David’s clean bill of health. God is good! Amen and Amen!
Congrats on the wonderful news about David! Cancer-free! What a mighty God we serve!
Amen to that, Lynn! Thank you for your prayers for him.
