God’s Singing
I visited the Redwood forests in California with my family on a vacation. A-maz-ing! Those trees are thousands of years old and so tall! It is hard for me to contemplate the scope of the life of these trees. Majestic, beautiful and enduring. I couldn’t help but think of God’s magnificence.
When the wind blows around the pine trees at home, I can hear the soughing. Is it something like God singing? I have not imagined what God’s singing would sound like. But the Scriptures tell us that He sings over us.
Gladness
Often, we rejoice when we sing. Sometimes it is worship, sometimes it is silly jingles, but to lift our voices in song is usually a glad sound. Does this mean that God is glad over us? Is He so glad that He can’t contain His joy: it must burst into melodies and lyrics?
Wow.
Can you remember singing lullabies to your babies? Why did you do that? Probably because you loved them and couldn’t contain the joy. It just flowed out.
And God is our Father.
Joy
Singing is intimate. An expression from the heart. Sometimes it is soft and sometimes it is loud. But always it floats into our souls.
When God sings over us, it is His voice in our spirits.
He refreshes us.
Let His joy flow in us!
