Truth
Who was the nincompoop who said, “God will never give you more than you can handle”?
He was wrong.
God almost always gives us more than we can handle.
Why?
Because He wants us to look to Him to handle it through us. That’s why.
And do we?
I Can Do It Myself!
I think we mostly don’t. Have you ever heard a small child say, “I can do it myself!” Their squeaky little voice is so full of determination that all you can do is back off with your hands in the air and wait for them to try, try, and fail again.
Have you ever said that yourself? I have. I can remember many times in my life when I have said those words. I’m sure I don’t remember the first time, but I know I have repeated that line over and over in my lifetime. To my dismay.
Have you? How has that worked for you?
Help Is Available
I have seen these words in various places. Physical places. Counseling places. Provision places. But I haven’t really seen it much in my own life. That is for other people, not me. Right?
But then comes the time when I must finally come to the conclusion that I really can’t do it myself. I must seek help. I must ask others who have more experience, better resources, other ideas to help me out.
But what happens when even that is not enough?
Ask God
Can you imagine Father God standing by your side and waiting for you to peek up and swallow the large lump of pride in your throat to ask Him for help?
He always has the right plan that will work out perfectly for any situation we find ourselves.
But we have to ask.
He will never force us.
But watch out!
When you ask, fully believing that He will come into your situation and make it right, He does it. And you can only stand still and marvel at all the mountains He moves and the way He moves them out of your way.
Ask God.
“Ask, and it will be given to you; seek, and you will find; knock and it will be opened to you. For everyone who asks receives, and he who seeks finds, and to him who knocks it will be opened” (Matthew 7:7-8 NKJV).
