April Fool!
Today is April Fool’s Day. I’ve always thought that a silly holiday to put on the calendar. What does that mean, anyway? And where does it come from? Is it a license to play tricks on people? I thought that was what Halloween was for—you know—trick or treat? Do we need two tricky days on the calendar?
It seems that we most play the fool when we try to be all things for all people. We simply can’t. And the sooner we realize it, the freer we will be!
We will fail some people and we are present and helpful for others. It’s the way it is. There is no use beating ourselves over the head for our failures (as I am prone to do!). We are all guilty of not being all things to all people.
Only Jesus can be all things to all people.
My good friend, Oswald Chambers, says in My Utmost for His Highest, “We can never work for God, He takes us over for His enterprises, no soul has any right to claim where he will be put.”
Now THAT’S a brain full!
It’s finally Spring and the time for renewal. Perhaps that means for our souls and for our relationships as well.
It’s time to lay ourselves before our God and allow Him to take us over for His enterprises. He will put us exactly where He wants to put us. He is always about restoration. For each of us. And for those we love and have put at a distance.
That’s no fool. That’s moving forward!
“Walk in wisdom toward those who are outside, redeeming the time” Colossians 4:5.
