When you get too busy, I just step back and wait until you are ready for relationship again.
Have you ever heard this Inner Voice?
How does it feel when God steps back and waits for you to remember Him?
I hear His calling me back from somewhere else all too often. I am not a person to sit around—ever. The mantra of my life is, “Wanna do everything; wanna see everything.” Life is just too short to let it slide by. The result of this inner drive is – well – constant motion. And sometimes, energy dissipation.
But in my headlong race through life, I forget the most important thing: spending time with the One who loves me most and empowers my life. So when I heard that Inner Voice again, it stopped me like sticky stuff on a smooth surface. Yeah, the face plant.
Where to Start
Sit in peace, advises the Inner Voice. Spend quiet time with Me. Listen to My Voice. Read My Word for you today. I am waiting for you.
Upheld In Silence
We don’t do silence. Have you ever noticed just how noisy we are? Media options are everywhere and usually on. How can we hear the Voice of the One who holds our very lives in His hands unless we spend time in silence? How much silence is enough?
Upheld In Repose
We don’t sit still very well, either. Repose means rest, relaxation, ease, calmness, even leisure. How does it feel to think that Jesus is already in repose and waiting for you to join Him?
Upheld In Meditation
With sitting still comes the opportunity to reflect. In the stillness, introspection can bring to mind the goodness of God and how patient and kind He is to wait on us. A time for grace.
Upheld in Prayer
Prayer – communication between Father God and us. It’s always open where God is concerned. He is ready to listen to us and then to speak to us. How easily we forget the One who longs to hear about our day.
Upheld In Listening
And then, there is listening. Another thing we don’t do well. Father God has all the time in the world to listen to us. I think He even invites us into His lap and inclines His ear toward us. I wonder that our ears aren’t much attuned to what He might be saying to us.
Upheld In His Love
And lastly, do we really believe in His love for us? Yes, of course, we know He made a way for us to be with Him for eternity. We accept that. We count on what Jesus did on the Cross and at His Resurrection to save us. But—on a daily basis—do we live like we believe in His love for us?
Going Forward
So how can we live differently? To truly believe that the Lover of our Souls is waiting for us? Every day.
“The Lord your God in your midst, The Mighty One, will save; He will rejoice over you with gladness, He will quiet you in His love, He will rejoice over you with singing” Zephaniah 3:17.
Love this writing, LJo. This is truth. Thank you.
Thanks, Nanc. It was a God thing.
