Jerusalem Gate_2009_Wikipedia
On our footprint tour, this gate sits about where the little toe begins to extend on the foot. The view from here is over the Kidron Valley, the Garden of Gethsemane, and the Mount of Olives.
One Week
What must the scene have been like? Messiah Jesus riding a donkey up the slope toward the open gate, people swamping him on every side with palms. Long leaves in front to clear His path, behind Him to give space to royalty, on His sides to honor His majesty, as He rode into the Golden East Gate into Jerusalem—His Father’s city.
All to the shouts of, “Hosanna! Blessed is He who comes in the Name of the Lord! The King of Israel!”
Who but God would have guessed all the events that would happen over the next week? The same Messiah Jesus that entered the Beautiful Golden East Gate on that Palm Sunday would teach, do miracles, host a special Passover dinner and then agonize in a garden, be tried in a mock trial, killed by crucifixion, and rise again from the dead: all in one week!
He changed everything for us.
Interval
Once Jesus ascended back into heaven after His earthly resurrection, He has been sitting at the right hand of His Father, interceding for us. Jesus opened the way for relationship with His Father for us.
How amazing is this? A direct line to God. We can talk to Him, listen to Him, feel His presence with us at every turn. He asks us to join Him in His plans for us on earth. It’s an open invitation. Given to us because Jesus died and rose again. Wow! How much we owe Him. A debt we can never repay!
Our part? To believe Him and act on that believing. No matter how it looks. He comes through. Every time.
Returning
The East Gate has been sealed since that time. Scripture tells us that Jesus will return on the Mount of Olives—just the way He ascended and left His earthly life.

I wonder if the bricks will crumble to finally open the gate? Or will they magically disappear? Or will Jesus ride another donkey and the gates open? Or maybe the doors will blow off—and He will come riding His white warrior horse down the Mount of Olives, across the Kidron Valley, up the incline and into the now unblocked gate.
Triumphant and Victorious!
I sure want to see it! Do you?

Is He your King?
Are you watching for the return of Jesus Christ? Are you ready for Him to return? Are you abiding in Him? Are you believing that He will do what He said He would do?
Watching. Ready. Abiding. Believing. Yes, all those ♥
