Adversity From The Hand of God
Really?
I thought God is love. If He is love, then why would He send or even allow danger or misfortune or even hard times?
“Shall we indeed accept good from God and shall we not accept adversity?” Job asked the question.
Do we accept only good from God and not adversity?
Are you asking the question?
What Does This Mean?
Do I have an answer? No.
But it is a problem to ponder. Because we all go through multiple adversities and crises in the course of our lifetimes. Many very severe difficulties. Even unsurmountable.
For us.
What does this mean to you?
How do you answer this question?
God’s Continual Love and Care
Is God in adversity? Does God’s love extend beyond adversity?
Truly, there is never a time when God is not in the middle of our calamities. There may be many reasons for trouble. Some are generational. Some are self-caused. Some are accidents. Some are diseases. Some come from outside sources.
For sure, we live in a fallen world full of evil. We can count on dangers and hardships.
In the Bible book of James, we are cautioned to not be surprised at fiery trials that come upon us. He even tells us to be joyful in them. Joyful, as in a deep abiding trust in God. He says that the testing of our faith produces patience. If we can allow patience to do its work in us, then our character will be complete and lack nothing. Let wisdom abound by keeping our minds and hearts set on God through all things.
In it all, Father God has promised that He will never leave us nor forsake us. He is concerned about our character. His love never fails. He restores in our souls all we lose.
With confidence, we can say, as Job did, “the Lord gave, and the Lord has taken away; blessed be the Name of the Lord.”
