What’s Next?
Thank you, dear friends, for your encouragement as Upheld in the Battle, Mrs. Job’s Choice and Through the Eyes of Amos are launched out into the world. You came alongside me to get those books “out there” and I am blessed. I so appreciate you!
And now it’s time to “talk” again. You might wonder what’s next? And if so—why—it’s the very question I want to answer.
A New Thing
The next project is a bit different. I am used to writing non-fiction, and now I am trying my hand at imagination. Novellas, to be precise. It came out of a small group of writers; we message and pray for one another daily. Our group project was born when we laughed about some crazy “what ifs,” and were suddenly catapulted into an alternate world together.
Our writers group is called a Huddle and is one of many Huddles across the nation through My Book Therapy/Novel Academy, founded by author Susan May Warren. MBT offers classes (all things creative writing, publishing, marketing etc.), online weekly peptalks, as well as the Huddles and more. Susie May loves football, hence “Huddles.” If you like, you can check out the Novel Academy here:
My Huddle is led by Dalyn Weller, and the other five of us are Kit Morgan, Pattie Frampton, Mary Albers Felkins, Kathy Geary Anderson and myself. We are all from different parts of the country. You may have seen my reviews for their books. And you can still see the latest releases at: https://lindajoreed.com/a-big-month/
I highly recommend all of them.
Introducing Wild Rose Ridge
So, I throw out my arms and welcome you to Wild Rose Ridge, Small Town Romance. We have created a story world to include a resort town and a lake set in the middle of wine country in Washington State.
It is based on the Chelan area, though our Wild Rose Lake is (of course) rose shaped instead of elongated. I thank the Coeur d’Alene Cruises for allowing me to do cruise and lake research with them. Who knew that research could be so enjoyable, right?
Our town has an interesting history and a wild rose legend to go with it. We have (yes) cruises, a festival, feuding wine families, vineyards, orchards and rose gardens, equestrian pursuits, outdoor sports, white water rafting and other water sports, a dance studio, a fashion boutique, bakery, tea and bookstore, the community church and more. Our mayor is the youngest mayor the town has ever seen, and his Mama and her friends think they know best when it comes to advice.
We are each writing a novella with our own characters. But our stories weave in and out and our characters all interact with each other. Of course, that means we, as authors, must do the same. It gets interesting. New twists, turns and plotlines keep us in close communication. We can’t have someone’s character lost in limbo, can we? (Or maybe running from one of those Meddling Moms)!
Our Goal
Our goal is to publish and release our stories, all in close timing, in Spring 2023. Everyone is writing this summer. I’ll have more to tell you soon.
All of our stories are fun, clean, inspirational romances. We hope that God’s words will reach out from this project. And that you will enjoy the stories.
That’s it for now. I will let you know how things are going along. If you would like to contact me, my email is below.
